It seems like the big talk in technology over the past month has been about Verizon Wireless getting the iPhone 4. My thoughts on the deal are in a way reflected in the way most people talk about it. It’s not “The iPhone is getting the Verizon network,” but “Verizon is getting the iPhone.” It’s no secret that a lot of people complain about the AT&T network. It’s no secret that Verizon customers think their network is better and a lot of them want the device that until now has been an AT&T exclusive.

I used to be a Verizon customer. I switched to AT&T because I had signal issues inside of some buildings with Verizon and Sprint didn’t have a phone that I wanted. Between the two networks, I did not notice any difference in dropped calls, but I do have much better signal inside of buildings and even elevators with AT&T. As far as data and internet usage, I think AT&T might have a little bit of an edge on speed, not to mention the ability to use data while talking on the phone (a function that is not available on Verizon).

I think AT&T will be keeping my business as of now with rollover minutes and the ability to use data during calls. I don’t really have any of the problems with the network that many others have complained about. Besides, Verizon will likely get a lot slower with all those new iPhone users and AT&T might get even faster with all the people that want to switch back to Verizon.
