Due to the Easter weekend, we were given Monday and Tuesday off as holidays at work this week. It’s not often that I get two days off in a row unless I’m taking vacation time, so I’ve been looking forward to this for a while. When days off only come one at a time, it’s easy to fill it with more work and not really take a break or get any rest. Other than mowing my lawn yesterday, these two days have been an amazingly rejuvenating time and I am feeling rested and ready to head back to work tomorrow. Even mowing my lawn yesterday (for the first time) was restful event in my peaceful “weekend”. Side note – lawnmowers are not really designed to mow grass that is taller than the mower.

I think a lot of people work for the weekend. They drag themselves through five days of work just to make it to the weekend where they either crash or party, or both. For me, these two days off have been just the break I needed to be excited about heading back to work this week and charging ahead. I’m interested to hear how you view your weekends, whether they be the standard weekend or your day(s) off during the week. Is your goal the weekend, or do you use the time off to gear up and get excited about the work you do? I wonder if that were a sliding scale, how would it match up against another scale based on how happy you are with your job, or another based on how happy you are with your home life.
