Goose Egg

Goose eggs are no fun for bloggers. (via flickr)

No blogger likes to see a zero day in his/her analytic graphs. The most effective way to avoid those zero days is to post something every day. Even if you only have a few regular readers, posting every day increases traffic to your blog.

But what if you’re like me and you have a job that does not involve your blog? Maybe you would rather do ten thousand other things before writing a blog post. Sometimes you can go weeks at a time without a single word written.

These droughts in the blog calendar can bring the growth of your blog that you’ve worked on so hard to a crawl, or even worse, a back slide. I don’t know how to remedy the situation other than just sitting down and writing, but one thing that can keep those goose egg days away is an array of evergreen posts (just click the link to get a better understanding of what I am talking about).

As you can plainly see, my last blog post was over two weeks ago. In the past, my traffic would have dropped of to zero within a day or two from my last post. If my last post was super awesome, then the trickling traffic might have lasted five days or so.

Over the past few months, I have started to understand what I might have to offer that people surfing the web might actually like to read. With those things in mind, I’ve begun writing posts that have some evergreen potential. Over the past two weeks I have gotten a lot of organic traffic (search engine traffic), and I have continued to get referral traffic from StumbleUpon.

2 Week Organic Traffic Search Terms

  1. Free Video Loops
  2. Best Unceasing Worship Quote
  3. Show Me The Money
  4. Video Loops

2 Week StumbleUpon Traffic

  1. Leadership Traits
  2. Two In A Row
  3. The Bible
  4. End Of The World

I know it’s not a ton of traffic coming from Google and StumbleUpon but it’s still cool to see some traffic every day, even when I don’t post anything. Now if I could just get a plan together for keeping a better blogging schedule.
