Genesis 10-11

I think it’s interesting to see the names of nations as they were birthed and how certain nations literally started out as brothers or cousins.  Maybe that makes me  a nerd, but I’m ok with that.  Do you ever wonder what would have happened if God had let everyone keep the same language?  The Bible says that nothing would have been impossible with everyone speaking the same language.  I don’t think God had a problem with the building reaching the heavens (just look at the Khalifa Tower in Dubai).  I think it was more about the attitude of the people.  To have a we-can-do-anything attitude apart from the providence of God is to deny Him and His love and grace.  I can see why God would be frustrated with the descendents of the only family that He saved from the flood.

The questions arises: Where in my life am I trying to do everything on my own?  Is it my finances?  I know it has been in the past.  Maybe a better question is “Where am I confused?”  If I’ve removed God from the equation of a part of my life, that area would be very confusing.  Clarity only comes with God in the picture.

Praying through Psalm 5

Lord, hear my cry as I lay every part of me at Your feet.  Make me clean so that I can be with You.  I bow before You in reverence as I thank You for inviting me into Your presence.  Though adversity is all around me, You are The Conqueror and You have overcome.  I take refuge in You, send Your blessing as You protect me from evil.
