Eating… it’s almost part of being American, right?  At picnics throughout the summer from  Memorial Day through Independence Day and all the way through Labor Day, we consume a lot of hot dogs, burgers, potato salad, chips, and pop (or soda for everyone else).  Tomorrow evening I will be a part of a competition to raise money for the counseling center at our churchI’m sure you’ve heard of Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Competition.  Tomorrow at the Starlight Car Cruise, I will be participating in North Way’s first hot dog eating competition.  As I said before, the competition is to raise money for our counseling center so that they are able to offer counseling to people who would not be able to afford it otherwise.

While it’s exciting to be a part of the competition, the bigger picture is the counseling center and the work that they do.  They have a weekly radio show on WORD in the Pittsburgh area and I think even more exciting is the care night that we have at our Wexford campus every Monday night.  There are links throughout this post and I encourage you to click through them for more information.

* Yes, I am aware of the heath risks in these kinds of competitions and I understand that it is not “healthy”.  That being said, it’s going to be a fun competition.
