Cleaning House

My last post was about cleaning house online. I had grown tired of wanting upgrade this and that but not doing so in fear that I would mess up any coding that I worked long hours on. So I downloaded everything as a backup and started from scratch. I’ve learned a lot about blogging over the life of this blog, so starting from scratch is going to be good for me. If you read my last post (Cleaning House), you know that I laid out 3 Reasons To Not Expect Version 4 Very Soon. A more appropriate title would have been 3 Focus Points in Becoming a Better Blogger, and I would have probably put them in a different order.

Today’s focus has been number 3 from yesterday’s post: Priorities. Today is my day off from work. In the past that has meant “do what you want to do day.” In a way, it still was that, but in a different light. I want to spend time with my family. I want to live in a comfortable house. I want to do things that please my wife.

Instead of ignoring my kids all day and sitting in front of my laptop, I decided to spend time with the boys. We watched Veggie Tales movies, had lunch together, played with the dog, and even cleaned the house some before my wife got home. I didn’t focus my energy on video games or web design or blogging, and I feel like I’ve had a satisfying day. On top of that, I am still witting right now as I take a break from cleaning, and I might even do a little design work this evening.

The point is, setting priorities and keeping to them make things fall into place a lot more easily. Thanks for stopping by. It’s time to get back to cleaning.
