Adam Farrell - To Know You MoreAre you looking for some great new music to add to your collection or broaden your set list possibilities at church? Adam Farrell’s new album, To Know You More, is well worth more than the $8.91 it costs on iTunes. You can find it on Amazon too if you want a physical CD. The track list flows from the pop sounds of “Faithful One” through the intimate worship attitude of “Breathe Life” and “Sing Into My Heart” into an updated folk version of Doxology. Farrell takes it up a notch with “Find Me” before going into “King of All” (which can also be found on North Way’s worship album, Follow After You) and “The Light That Shines”.

Faithful One

Adam Farrell kicks the album off with strong vocals and lyrics that bring truth to anyone who listens. This song is a song of praises to God in the truest sense of the term. The pop rock sound of the opening track engages you and draws you into wanting to listen to the whole album. By the time you hit the bridge, you know this song was written straight to God and you can’t help but start singing along through the chorus.

To Know You More

With an ethereal piano and vocals that are easy on the ears, this song takes you from raising your hands in the opening track to bowing on your knees. To Know You More goes from offering yourself to God in worshipful verses to singing about what God does for us through His love.

Your love lifted me from out of darkness
Grace enough to cover all my sin
Your cross leads me to my knees
Leads me to my knees

It’s easy to see why this song has become a standard in the worship sets at our church. Out of the chorus, you’ll find yourself in a battle cry of sorts that is all about the sacrifice of Christ on the cross so that we can “live to love.”

It’s Your love, love
Pouring over us
We are covered by Your love
We are covered by Your love, Jesus

It’s Your blood
That was poured out on the cross
So that we could live to love
So that we could live to love

Breathe Life

This song might be my favorite on the entire album. The honesty and intimacy of this song are easy to relate to and it feels like Farrell was writing from my own perspective. Ezekiel 37:4-6 is the basis of this track that ends with a simple line.

It seems without You I am nothing, breathe life into these dry bones.

Sing Into My Heart

This is another song that has become a common part of our worship services at church. We all long to see our Creator face to face and we often think it is about what we can do for Him to know Him more. As you listen to this song, the realization that God is the one changing us and “singing new love into us.” When worship becomes stagnant, it is God who sings a new way to worship Him into our lives.

Most High (Doxology)

I am a big fan of the folk sounds of Sufjan Stevens, and this song seems to have a similar feel to much of his work. The simple, yet profound lyrics of The Common Doxology are accompanied by an equally simple and profound original chorus. The guitar work on this song makes me want to pull out my guitar or mandolin and play along. Often times a redone hymn can seem like the writer was trying too hard. That is not the case with this updated version of Doxology.

No Other

The lyrics of the verses of this song are the cries of someone who struggles with wanting to say and do the right things. It’s not about being stuck in that moment though as the realization that every aspect of our lives belong to God leads us to the chorus, singing of no other sweeter, stronger, counselor, healer, gracious redeemer, savior but our God.

What can I give
What can I bring
Nothing less than all that I am

Find Me

Rock and Roll. This song takes us from the intimate worship of the previous five tracks into an energetic rock song that’s fun to listen to and could even be added to your workout mix. Written from the perspective of God, this song asks the question, “Will you go away to find me?” God knows what you need and will show you where to find Him. If you’ve asked Christ into your life, you don’t have to go away to find Him because He is in you.

King If All

Every time I hear this song, I think to myself that it would be an awesome way to kick off a worship service. The softer verses have powerful lyrics that lead to a chorus that sets your focus towards God.

You are the song that I’ve been singing
You are the breath of life I’m breathing
You are the King of All
The King of All

You are the dawn that’s always breaking
You are the Way, the Truth, the Life and
You are the King of All
The King of All

The Light That Shines

If you like the band, Send The Beggar, you will definitely like this song. With ringing guitars and lyrics that cut through any chaos you might be experiencing, this song points towards the Love of God that shines as a beacon to lead you to Him.
