Celebrating 30 Years of Ministry

30 years is a long time for anything. I haven’t even been alive for 30 years yet, so I am blown away when I think about someone being in ministry for that long. Over the past month we’ve been celebrating the 30 years of ministry of Pastor Jay Passavant. It is unusual to see the founding pastor of a church stay as the lead pastor for very long, but that is just what Pastor Jay has done with North Way Christian Community.

I had the opportunity to participate in a celebration dinner, honoring Pastor Jay’s 30 years of ministry and his commitment to continue in ministry. It was amazing to hear the testimonies of so many people who have been affected by the ministry of Pastor Jay. Many of them

started their own ministries as a direct result of Pastor Jay’s influence in their lives. I have been greatly impacted by his ministry as well. Not only did I grow up at North Way, but I’ve had many conversations with Pastor Jay that have helped me through tough decisions. I honestly believe that I am a better leader today because of his influence on me.

One thing he wants everyone to know is that he is not retiring. While he is transitioning out of his role as Senior Pastor of North Way, he is transitioning into the role of Founding Pastor. In his new role, he will be able to devote more time to mentoring and training leaders in the church. I can’t wait to see what God will continue to do through him.

When I reach the point of having 30 years of ministry behind me, I hope that I can look back at my ministry and see even a fraction of the impact that Pastor Jay has had for The Kingdom. I pray that God will continue to bless Pastor Jay as he continues in ministry.
